Kangaroo Island to Little Sahara
Today, be prepared to rise early as you will be picked up from your Adelaide accommodation at 6:45am. We then drive south to Cape Jervis where we’ll board the 9am ferry to the unspoiled coastline of Kangaroo Island. After a 45-minute cruise, we arrive to Penneshaw for morning tea, before traveling to the eastern side of the island to Cape Willoughby. You’ll have the chance to take many photos of the stunning coastal scenery as well as the towering Cape Willoughby lighthouse, which was the first to be built in South Australia.
After the tour, we’ll walk up Prospect Hill, which offers spectacular views over Pelican Lagoon, Pennington Bay and American River. Here we will stop for a picnic lunch. After a bite to eat, we move onward to Seal Bay Conservation Park and then to Little Sahara, where we’ll have some fun climbing and rolling down the giant sand dunes. Try sand boarding if you’re up for it!
Two Nights Accommodation: Kangaroo Island
Remarkable Rocks and Kellys Hill Caves
Today we begin our adventure strolling through a section of the Flinders Chase National Park. Marvel at the array of wildlife and birdlife in the vicinity and don’t forget to have your cameras ready when we reach Admiral’s Arch and the Remarkable Rocks. If we look hard enough we may be able to spot some New Zealand fur-seals at Cape du Couedic. We continue our journey to Kellys Hill Caves, one of the few dry limestone cave systems in Australia. Take your time touring the impressive caves and their spectacular decorative formations. We finish up for the day at Hanson Bay Sanctuary on the popular Koala Walk.
Lathami Conservation Park to Emu Bay
It's an early start this morning as we traverse through the northern part of the island, making our first stop at Stokes Bay. Here we will climb the cliff for rewarding views over the beautiful stretch of white sand and rock pools beneath us. Later in the day we will pay a visit to the nearby Lathami Conservation Park, which is home to Australia’s most endangered and rarest Glossy Black Cockatoo. From here, we will make our way north to Emu Bay for a bit of dolphin spotting. Around 5pm we’ll head to Kingscote Wharf to watch the pelican feeding, before having fresh fish and chips for dinner. After dinner we make our way back to Penneshaw to board the ferry to the mainland. You will be transferred back to your Adelaide accommodation at approximately 10pm.
