Your walking adventure starts in Jindabyne any time after 2pm. Jindabyne is the gateway to the Snowy Mountains and offers access to a range of adventure activities. There is no walking scheduled for today but if you arrive early enough you can walk for many kilometers around the shores of picturesque Lake Jindabyne.

Snowy Mountain scheme
The walk begins with the easy Aqueduct Trail. Along the track you will witness the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, which was built in the 1950-60s to alter the direction of the rivers to provide water to farmers on the dryer inland plains. The path weaves beside the scheme’s aqueducts, rivers and dams that opened up this isolated country. You will continue to Guthega Alpine village on the banks of the Snowy River.

Today you will meander through Blue Cow alpine ski resort to Perisher Valley, then hike up Porcupine Rocks to the rewarding views of the Great Dividing Range. This is the place to see some of the stunning ancient snow gum trees that have been twisted and gnarled through centuries of harsh winters. Depending on the season, the trunks of these majestic trees change color, you will see brilliant shades of red, yellow, orange and green.
Two Nights Accommodation: Charlotte Pass Alpine Village
Cross our famous Snowy River and walk through fields carpeted in wildflowers, stroll along high grassy ridges to the icy Blue Lake. Watch out for spaghnum bogs, which are large mossy plants that hold six times their weight in water then slowly release it into the alpine streams.
Today you will hike up the spectacular Mt Kosciuszko, Australia's highest mountain. Be taken away by the splendid surrounding mountain scenery, before ending the day with an exciting ride down Australia's longest chair lift. For the challenge seekers, you may choose to walk the steep Merrit's Track, down past ash forest and waterfall valleys.
Two Nights Accommodation: Thredbo Alpine Village
Here you will have a rewarding break by taking the easy way by riding the chair lift up! Later on the track descends through fields of alpine wildflowers and snow gum forests to the Thredbo Valley. Finish the day with an easy stroll along the banks of the swift Thredbo River as it meanders down to the village.
After breakfast you’ll be transported back to Jindabyne where your trip concludes. Jindabyne is a great base camp and provides access to skiing, horse riding, fishing and water sports. Choose to extend your stay here to make the most of the Snowy Mountains Region.
