Broome to fitzroy
Head to the outback town of Fitzroy Crossing, set on the banks of the mighty Fitzroy River. Spend today on a Fitzroy Crossing tour, exploring all that the area has to offer including the indigenous artworks at the local art center and a 1 hour cruise of the Geikie Gorge. The gorge was created from the floodwaters of the Fitzroy River which carved its way through the Geikie Range and is cultural significance to the Aboriginal community. Tonight, stay in the town of Fitzroy Crossing.

Fitzroy Crossing to kununurra
Explore the original town site including the legendary 1987 Crossing Inn which was provided accommodation and food for travelers. Or head out on to the Fitzroy River to try your luck at barramundi fishing. A long drive to Kununurra today (approx 7 hours) with plenty of sights to enjoy along the way. Stop in Halls Creek; the site of Western Australia’s first gold discovery in 1885, explore ‘China Wall’ which is located just outside of the town. The wall rises from the creek up over the hill, and you can see it in the distance as it winds its way over the rugged landscape for 15 km's. Arrive in Kununurra and stay 2 nights.

Bungle bungle & Lake argyle adventure
You are in for a treat today as you take to the skies on an experience of a lifetime. From Kununurra, you travel south over the Ord Irrigation area and Spillway Creek. This is where the overflow is housed for Australia's largest fresh water lake. View the Ord Top Dam, Kimberley cattle country and the 60km Lake Argyle before continuing on to Purnululu National Park, home to the beehive domes of the spectacular Bungle Bungle Range.
From here we return north to the Argyle Diamond Mine, known as one of the world's largest diamond producers. Next, experience a graceful water landing as the floatplane descends for your remote island experience. Take in the vast beauty of Lake Argyle on foot and enjoy afternoon tea and a spot of wildlife before gliding above the gorges of the Ord River back to Kununurra.
kununurra to katherine/nitmiluk national park
Today will be another long drive (just under 7 hours) to Katherine, known for its beautiful gorge and river. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the serenity of the region. Katherine is a diverse mix of the outback and the tropics and is the gateway to the amazing Nitmiluk National Park. Stay 2 nights.

Explore the natural beauty of the gorge at your own pace as you canoe through the beautiful surrounds (Apr-Nov). Later, experience a view of the Nitmiluk National Park that few have the opportunity to witness. Take flight on an adrenalin-filled helicopter adventure and gain a unique perspective of the flora and fauna of the 3 gorges below. Katherine to darwin
Make your way to the top of the country, via Litchfield National Park. Explore the open eucalyptus woodland, dense tropical rainforest and magnetic termite mounds. In the dry season, make the most of the Table Top Range waterfalls that plunge into refreshing pools (During the wet, some roads, waterfalls and pools are closed to the public because of flooding). Continue to Darwin.
